Lucia G. DaRosa, age 90, of Taunton, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Monday, July 10, 2023, surrounded by the love, comfort, and care of her family at West Acres Nursing Home in Brockton. She was the dear and loving wife of the late Sebastiao DaRosa, who passed away in 1986.
Born on the island of Brava, in the nation of Cape Verde, Lucia was one of six children born to the late Joao and Gilhermina (DaRocha) Gibau. Lucia was raised and grew up in Cape Verde before immigrating to the United States.
A woman with a great work ethic, Lucia was a supervisor at the food court at the Silver City Galleria. She took great pride in providing wonderful service to the patrons of the food court and supporting her colleagues to the best of her ability. Outside of work, Lucia had the ever so important job of being a mother to her eight children and granting a welcoming and comforting home to her family.
Having a kind and caring heart and wanting to make a difference for those less fortunate, Lucia was Brown Bag Volunteer, a program which consisted of providing food to those in need of quality meals. She was also a communicant of St. Anthony Parish in Taunton.
In her spare time Lucia enjoyed crocheting, exercising, and watching fashion shows. Above all, she was most happy with the time spent and memories made with her treasured family.
She is survived by her children Jacinto Dalomba married to Andrea Dalomba, Palmira Dalomba married to Julio Depina, Joao DaRosa married to Fatinha Darosa, Alvaro DaRosa (Vinny) married to Diana DaRosa, Domingas DaCosta , Maria DaRosa, Ana DaRosa and her partner Emil Walker, and the youngest Priscilla Darosa
She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren She was also the grandmother the late Isalena Desousa and Vincent Soares
her siblings: Victoria, Maria Jose, and Eliza; and also many extended family members and friends.
In addition to her late husband and parents, Lucia is preceded in passing by her brothers: Alberto and Domingas.
Lucia’s funeral with visitation will be held on Monday, July 17, 2023 at 8:30am from the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at saint Mary’s Square) Taunton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Saint Anthony Church School Street, Taunton.
Interment will follow in Mayflower Hill Cemetery.
