Lucy M. Souza

Lucy M. ( Medeiros) Souza, age 99 of Taunton, passed away on June 25, 2025 at home surrounded by her loving family.

She was the beloved wife of the late Arthur G. Souza.

Born in Taunton, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (Fernandes) Medeiros.

Lucy lived a beautiful long life meeting husband Arthur as a child. They married and enjoyed every year of their 70 years of marriage. 

A wonderful wife and mother, Lucy enjoyed hosting family gatherings, playing cards with friends and going dancing. After retiring Lucy and Art enjoyed many, many cruises and traveling throughout the United States. 

She will be missed, but we imagine Lucy and Art together forever dancing in each other’s arms.

Lucy is survived by her children; Arthur Souza and wife Linda, Paul Souza and wife Janet, Beverly Franklin, and Nanette Vierra, grandchildren; Tina Wooten and husband Clayton, Christopher Souza and wife Bobbie, Martin Souza, Dorothy Souza, Colleen Davis and husband Matt, Sean Franklin, and Zac Vierra and wife Hayley, great-grandchildren; Sebastian Souza, Natalie Wooten, Cameron Wooten, Jana Reis and Joshua Reis. She also leaves Tommy Ray who was like a grandson to her and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Ferdinand Medeiros, Antone Medeiros and Armando Medeiros.

Lucy’s funeral with visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at 8:30am in the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton with a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 11:00am in Saint Ann Church 675 North Main Street, Raynham.

Burial will be held privately.
