NORTH DIGHTON / TAUNTON - Lydia (Teixeira) Phillipe, the wife of Frank V. Phillipe, died at Marian Manor on Sept. 11, 2009.
She was 90 years old.
Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late John E. and Capitolina (Agrella) Teixeira.
Educated in Dighton schools, she later worked as a dressmaker, and ran the former Texeira Dress Shop for many years.
A homemaker for most of her adult life, Mrs. Phillipe was also employed for a while by Bristol Plymouth Regional High School, working in the cafeteria until retiring in 1978.
A communicant of St. Nicholas of Myra Church, and member of the Morton Hospital Auxiliary, Mrs. Phillipe enjoyed sewing, and for many years met on a regular basis with other area sewing enthusiasts, sharing their knowledge and experiences with needle and thread.
She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking, baking, gardening, and traveling, although her greatest pleasure was spending time with her family.
Besides her husband of N. Dighton, she leaves a son, William F. Phillipe and his wife Connie of Raynham; two daughters, Frances Ratcliffe and her husband Luther of Swansea, and Mary Joan Dary and her husband Robert of Taunton; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late John P., Edmund G., and Zelia Teixeira.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Wednesday, Sept. 16th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Nicholas of Myra Church, N. Dighton at 10 a.m.
She will be buried at St. Francis Cemetery in Taunton.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, Sept. 15th from 5 to 8 p.m.
