Madeline M. (Souza) Medeiros, age 96, of Taunton, passed away on March 17, 2021 at her residence with her loving family by her side.
Madeline was the beloved wife of the late Fernand (Ferdy) Medeiros and is survived by her children, Lorna Flynn and her late husband William and Michael Medeiros, her grandchildren, Erin (Harrison) Wittrock and husband Cory and children, Ava and Aiden, Alicia (Harrison) Roberts and husband Dempsey and daughters Quinn and Reagan.
She was the daughter of the late Margaret (Rose) and Manuel Souza of North Dighton where she was born June 21, 1924.
Also known to her friends as Mat, she attended schools in North Dighton and the Bristol Secretarial School. She married Fernand Medeiros of Taunton at the Former Saint Joseph Church in North Dighton on October 5, 1946 and was happily married for all of her life.
They lived in Taunton, where she was a homemaker. She enjoyed dancing, walking and being with her family and friends made her most happy. She enjoyed word search and played hundreds of games of Scrabble. When she and her husband were younger, they spent many summers on Cape Cod and winters in Florida where they enjoyed walking along the beach.
She worked for a while at Reed and Barton’s in Whittenton doing secretarial work during and after the war and later once the children had grown, she was the product inspector at Princess House in North Dighton.
In addition to her immediate family, she was close to her sisters, Josephine Souza of North Dighton, Helen Souza of Taunton and the late Frances Fish of Tiverton; and is survived by many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 10 am in Saint Andrew the Apostle Church Kilmer Ave, Taunton. Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are asked to meet directly at church at 9:45am.
During all services, facial coverings and social distancing will be required.
