Madeline (Carreiro) Wojcik

Madeline (Carreiro) Wojcik, age 98 of Taunton, passed away on January 28, 2019 at Marian Manor after an extended period of declining health.

She was the wife of the late Theodore J. Wojcik, Sr.

Madeline was born in Taunton, the daughter of the late Francisco and Madeline (Thomas) Carreiro.

Mrs. Wojcik was a 1938 graduate of Taunton High, and before retiring was employed with Paragon Gear as a Bookkeeper for many years.

Madeline was a devout Catholic and was awarded the Marian Medal by Bishop Sean O’Malley in 1994.  She was a past president of the Diocesan Council of Catholic Woman, Woman’s Guild of the former St. Joseph Church in Taunton, a member of the Woman’s Guild of the former St. Paul Church, Oakland Seniors, a past treasurer of Westside Seniors, past treasurer of Taunton Woman’s Club and a past treasurer of Queen’s Daughters, a member of the Old Colony Historical Society and the Friends of the Taunton Public Library.

Most of all Madeline was a loving and caring person who was devoted to her family.

She is survived by her loving children; Theodore J. Wojcik, Jr and his wife Mary and Michael F. Wojcik all of Taunton. She was the aunt of many and sister of the late John and Francis Carreiro and Gloria Timms, Joseph Carreiro, G. Paulina Batog, Arthur and William Carreiro and Leonora Guglielmo, Edward Carreiro and Thomas and Rosemary Wheeler and Elaine Lapre.

Mrs. Wojcik’s funeral will be held on Monday, February 4th, 2019 at 8:45 AM from the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Saint Andrew the Apostle Church Kilmer Ave., Taunton. Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.

Madeline’s family wishes to acknowledge the kind, compassionate and faithful care of the staffs at the Taunton Nursing Home and Marian Manor.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, February 3rd in the Silva Funeral Home from 2 to 4 PM.
