Mae (Barboza) Fortes, age 88 of Taunton, passed away on September 14, 2026 at her residence with her loving family by her side.

She was the beloved wife of 43 years of the late Alvarino (Levi) Fortes who passed in 2000.

Mae was born in Boston, the daughter of the late Louis and Emily (Santos) Barboza.

Before retiring, Mrs. Fortes was employed as a CNA in Plymouth. 

Mae also volunteered her time for many years at the Holy Cross Retreat House, and at My Brother’s Keeper; both in Easton. She attended Saint Andrew the Apostles Church, where she was well thought of and loved.

Her enjoyment in life was in the times shared with her husband and their travels, in the moments she shared with her granddaughter, and in the times shared with her neighbors and friends.

Mae is survived by her loving daughter Elizabeth Sollecito and her husband Joseph of Taunton, granddaughter Alexandria Roberts and her husband Matthew of Walpole. Mae was also the mother of the late Mary Fortes, and sister of the late Marie Rose and Margaret Pina.

Mrs. Fortes funeral will be held on Friday, September 25, 2026 at 9:30 am from the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in Saint Andrew the Apostle Church.

Interment will follow in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, September 24th from 4 to 7pm in the Silva

Funeral Home. Additional parking with handicap access is located on the North side of the funeral home.
