TAUNTON - Manuel S. Moreira, husband of Maria (Morais) Moreira, died peacefully at Morton Hospital surrounded by his family on Dec. 9, 2016. He was 70.
Born in Santa Maria, Acores, he was the son of the late Manuel S. and Ana (Fontes) Moreira.
Manuel moved to this area in 1971 and worked as a silversmith for Reed & Barton for 31 years, retiring in 2009. Mr. Moreira loved gardening and planting his flowers, watching soccer and making many runs to Dunkin Donuts with his granddaughters. He will be missed by all.
In addition to his wife Maria of 45 years, he leaves his son Tommy Moreira and his wife Nubelia of Berkley; his daughter Christina Manganaro and her husband Justin of E. Taunton; two brothers, Antonio F. Moreira and Jose F. Moreira and his wife Terry, all of Taunton; two sisters, Maria Reis and her husband Francisco of Cambridge, Ontario Canada and Maria F. Machado and her husband Jose of Taunton; two granddaughters, Julia and Alexandra; and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Wednesday, Dec. 14th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony's Church in Taunton at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, Dec. 13th from 5 to 8 p.m.
