Manuel Camara, born on February 1, 1947, in Água d’Alto, São Miguel, Azores, passed away surrounded by the love of his family.
He was the beloved son of the late Manuel de Camara Viveiros and Maria do Espírito Santo Sousa.
Manuel was a devoted husband of 54 years, a loving father, and an immensely proud grandfather. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and found his greatest joy in simply being with them and watching them grow.
Manuel proudly served in the Portuguese Military, stationed in Muxaluando, Angola, from 1969 to 1971. His service was a meaningful chapter of his life and reflected his sense of duty and strength of character.
A hard worker throughout his life, Manuel was employed by Texas Instruments, where his strong work ethic and reliability were evident to all who knew him. He carried that same pride and dedication into his home life, caring for his backyard farm animals and maintaining a perfectly kept lawn that reflected the care he put into everything he touched.
Manuel was also an avid Sporting Clube de Portugal soccer fan, faithfully following his team and sharing his passion for the game with those around him. Watching soccer brought him great enjoyment and was one of the many simple pleasures he cherished.
Manuel had a gentle heart, even if he seemed tough on the outside. He was the kind of man who would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need, never hesitating to show up for others. His love was steady, loyal, and unconditional.
Manuel is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Camara; his daughter, Debbie Bairos, and her husband, Manny Bairos; his son, Kevin Camara, and his wife, Melissa Camara; and his cherished grandchildren, Ethan and Madelyn Bairos, and Hunter and Avery Camara.
He will be remembered for his strength, generosity, and deep devotion to his family. His legacy lives on through the family he loved so fiercely, and he will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Manuel’s funeral with visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at 8:30 am from the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in Saint Anthony Church, School Street, Taunton.
Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.
