TAUNTON - Manuel O. Tavares, husband of Maria C. (Narciso) Tavares ,died at his home on May 21, 2013. He was 79.
Born, raised, and educated in the Azores he was the son of the late Manuel O. and Maria (Raposo) Tavares.
Mr. Tavares moved to Taunton in 1978. For many years he was employed as a machine operator with various companies.
He enjoyed gardening, and was a communicant of St. Anthony Church.
Besides his wife of fifty-four years, he leaves two sons, Joseph C. Tavares and his wife Maria and Edward M. Tavares all of Taunton; three grandchildren, Stephanie, David and Tyler Tavares. He was also the brother of the late Geneveve Tavares.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Friday May 24th at 8 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony Church at 9 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday May 23rd from 5 to 8 p.m. Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton, MA.
