Marceline Silva, 86, of Taunton, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 12th, 2024 at Marian Manor. She was the beloved wife of the late Victor Silva Sr.
Born in Providence, RI, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Louise (Gomes) Mendes.
Marcy graduated from North Providence High School in 1956 and began working at Morris Novelty Shop, one of the first family owned party supply, costume and novelty shops in Rhode Island. They moved to Pawtucket in 1980, closed in 2005 and unfortunately burned in 2011. She loved this extraordinary, unusual place to work. Locally, Marcy received stardom by being a master cashier at Shaws in Taunton for 30 years. What she loved and cherished most in her life was her family.
Survivors include her sons, Victor Silva Jr. and his wife Juliane Sinatra-Silva of Franklin, and Christopher Silva; siblings, Donna L. Mendes-Rose of Chesapeake, Virginia, Frederick Mendes and his wife Joyce of Cedar Creek, Texas, and Arthur Gomes Mendes of North Port, Florida; grandchildren she adored, Taylor, Tyreese, Shauna and Marcus, and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her graveside service on Thursday, August 15th at 12:00pm in Cedar Knoll Cemetery.
