Maria A. (Sousa) Sousa, age 86 of Taunton, passed away on July 26, 2025 Hope Hospice Care in Providence.
She was the beloved wife of the late Jose F. Sousa who passed in 2009.
Born in Sao Miguel, Azores, the daughter of the late Manuel and Alice (Aguiar) Sousa.
Before retiring, Mrs. Sousa was employed with Texas Instruments as a machine operator for many years.
She enjoyed the beach, reading, watching movies and going to the casino, most of all she cherished time spent with her family.
Maria is survived by her loving children, Maria Laudalina Sousa of Rehoboth, Cidalia Kushner of Taunton, Natalie Fontes of Taunton, Carlos DeSousa of Mattapoisett, John DeSousa of Taunton, Lucy DeSousa of FL. Grandmother of 14, great-grandmother of several. She was also the sister of Fernanda Sousa of Fall River, mother of the late Jose DeSousa and sister of the late Geraldo Sousa, Manuel Sousa, Guiamar Sousa, Laudalina Luz and the late Conceia Sousa.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at 10am in Saint Andrew the Apostle Church 19 Kilmer Ave, Taunton.
Relatives and friends may meet directly at church at 9:30am. Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.
