Maria F. Borges

Maria F. Borges, 100, of Taunton, passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, February 11, 2021 at Longmeadow of Taunton. She was the wife of the late John Borges.

Born in Santa Maria, Azores, she was the daughter of Jose and Berdina (Soares Moura) Fontes.

She worked as a factory worker at Corcoran Shoe for many years before retirement.

Maria enjoyed crocheting, cooking, and taking care of her grandchildren.

Mrs. Borges leaves her daughter, Emily S. Batista, and her husband, Libuino, of Taunton; a sister, Ines Figueried; three grandchildren, Rodney S. Batista, and his wife, Stephanie, Robert S. Batista, and his wife, Constantina, and John-Paul S. Batista, and his wife, Nellie; and three great grandchildren, Nicholas Batista, Christopher Batista, and Arianna Batista. She was preceded in death by eight siblings.

Her funeral with visitation will be held on Friday, February 19, 2021 from 7:30 am to 8:30 am, in the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton (at Saint Mary’s Square) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 am, in Saint Anthony Church, School Street, Taunton. Interment will be in Cedar Knoll Cemetery, East Taunton.

Additional parking with handicap access is located on the North side of the funeral home.

Facial coverings and social distancing will be required during all funeral services.
