Maria C. (Tavares) Demello

Maria C. ( Tavares) DeMello, age 80, of Taunton, passed away on Thursday December 7, 2017 at Life Care Center of Raynham with her loving family by her side.

She was the beloved wife of Gilbert DeMello.

Maria was born in Sao Miguel, Azores, a daughter of the late Manuel and Maria (Mello) Tavares.

Mrs. DeMello was employed for many years as a shoemaker at Frank Noone Shoe Co. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and dancing. She loved spending time with her family especially her nieces and nephews.

Besides her beloved husband of over 45 years, she is survived by her sister Manuela Carreiro and her husband Mario and Fernanda Carreiro. She is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Manuel Tavares and Paulina Tavares.

Maria’s funeral with visitation will be held on Monday December 11, 2017 at 9am from the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square ) Taunton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in Saint Anthony Church School St., Taunton.

Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place, W 6th floor, Brookline, MA 02445 in Maria’s Memory.
