Maria Garcia (Andrade) Duarte, age 83 of Taunton, passed away on December 27, 2018 at the Life Care Center in Raynham.
She was the beloved wife of the late Antonio Duarte.
Maria was born in Fayal, Azores, the daughter of the late Francisco and Maria (Duarte) Andrade.
Mrs. Duarte moved to Taunton from the Azores in 1969. She enjoyed traveling to Canada to see her family, enjoyed Cape Cod and most of all was a devout Catholic. She was a communicant of Saint Anthony Church where she was a member of Lady of Mt. Carmel and the Holy Rosary Society.
She was the Loving mother of; Tony Duarte, Edward Duarte, Joe A. Duarte all of Taunton and Joseph C. Duarte and his wife Karen of Wareham. She was the adoring grandmother of Joseph and Joshua Duarte, and the loving sister of Jose Andrade and Maria Sousa both of Canada. Maria was also the sister of the late Francisco Duarte and the late Maria Goulart.
Maria’s funeral will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 8:30 am from the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Saint Anthony Church 126 School Street, Taunton. Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, January 2nd from 4 to 7pm in the Silva Funeral Home.
