Maria Joana (Pereira) Silva

TAUNTON - Maria Joana (Pereira) Silva, wife of Honorato Medeiros Silva, died at her Taunton home on Oct. 23, 2010.
She was 77.
Born in St. Michael, Azores, the daughter of the late Manuel and Maria (Pereira) Paiva, she moved to the Taunton area many years ago.
A polisher employed by Swank, Inc. for many years, she retired at the age of 65.
Previously, she had worked for the Frank Noone Shoe Co.
Mrs. Silva was a communicant of St. Anthony Church, and enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family.
Besides her husband, she leaves a son, Humberto DaSilva and his wife Zelia of Taunton; two daughters, Isabel M. Narciso, and Diane M. Bonneau and her husband Scott, all of Taunton; two brothers, Eugene Paiva and his wife Isabel, and Mario Paiva and his wife Fernanda, all of Taunton; a sister, Conceicao Leite and her husband Manuel of Taunton; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also the mother-in-law of the late Jose Narciso, and the sister of the late Deolinda DeMelo.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway Taunton on Wednesday, Oct. 27th at 8 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony Church at 9 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, Oct. 26th from 5 to 8 p.m.
