Maria “Odete” (Duarte) Jorge, age 89, passed away on July 7, 2022 with her loving family by her side.
She was the beloved wife of the late Onofre Jorge.
Born in Faial, Azores, Maria was the daughter of the late Francisco and Maria de Jesus Duarte.
Before retiring, Mrs. Jorge was employed with ACME shoe company in Stoughton as a press operator.
Maria is survived by her sister Mary Lou Almeida (Adam) of Taunton, a brother Jose Duarte (Maria-Manuela) of Faial, Azores.
She was also the sister of the late Albertina Brum, Antonio Duarte, Mary Laurinda Freitas, Maria Garcia, and Manuel Peixoto.
Maria is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She enjoyed bright colorful flowers, gardening, listening to music, weekend family trips by the ocean side, Vacationing with her husband, and walks on the Cape Cod Canal, Newport and Scituate.
We would like to acknowledge the team at All American Assisted Living in Raynham, Rose Lane unit who have cared so compassionately for Maria this past year.
Also Jessica and her team from Compassionate Care Hospice for their support and care during this difficult time and her home Healthcare aide and friend, Maria Fatima DaSilva for whom we cannot thank enough for her care and compassion.
Maria’s funeral with visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at 9am from the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in Saint Anthony Church School Street, Taunton. Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.
