Maria Do Espirito Santo (Loras) Lazaro

TAUNTON - Maria do Espirito Santo (Loras) Lazaro, wife of the late Jose Melo Lazaro, died at Morton Hospital & Medical Center on April 13, 2010.
She was 90 years old.
Born in St. Michael, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Maria da Gloria (Simoes) Furtado Loras.
Raised and educated in the Azores, where she was well known for her skills as a seamstress, Mrs. Lazaro moved to the U.S. in 1975, and made Taunton her home.
She was employed by the John E. Lucy Shoe Co. for over twenty years.
A communicant of St. Anthony Church, and member of Nossa Senhora do Carmo of New Bedford, Mrs. Lazaro enjoyed making clothes and gardening.
She leaves five sons, Daniel Lazaro of Canada, Jose Lazaro of Portugal, John Lazaro of NH, Antonio Lazaro of Raynham, and Fernando Lazaro of Taunton; two daughters, Maria Clara Resendes of Taunton, and Idalina Butler of Cumberland, RI; a brother, Germano Loras of Fall River; two sisters, Maria Jose Aguiar of Bristol, RI and Maria Gloria Simoes of Canada; twenty-three grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also predeceased by seven siblings.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway on Saturday, April 17th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony Church at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Friday, April 16th from 5 to 8 p.m.
