TAUNTON - Maria L. (Mendonca) Couto, wife of the late Jose A. Couto, died peacefully at her Taunton home on April 6, 2012.
She was 82.
Born in Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Jose A. and Maria C. (Costa) Mendonca.
Educated in Portugal, she came to this country in 1968.
Employed by Texas Instruments for 25 years, and a communicant of St. Anthony's Church, Mrs. Couto enjoyed knitting, time spent with her family, and watching Portuguese television programs.
Survivors include her son, Kenneth Couto of Taunton; her brother, Manuel F. and his wife Tina Mendonca of Taunton; her grandson, Tyler Couto; and two nephews, Michael Mendonca of Assonet, and Willitts Mendonca of Taunton.
She was also the sister of the late Jose M. Mendonca.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Tuesday, April 10th at 8:00 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony's Church at 9:00 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday, April 9th from 5 to 8 p.m.
