TAUNTON - Maria Jose Pacheco Melo, wife of the late Antonio Lopes de Melo, died on Thursday, Aug. 21st at home at the age of 91.
Born in Santa Maria, Azores was she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Ana (Sousa Soares) Soares Pacheco.
She worked for many years as a stitcher for the former Robertson Curtain Factory, retiring at the age of 62.
A communicant of St. Anthony Church, she enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
She leaves a son, Joseph P. Melo, and his wife Ann; a daughter, Maria D. Melo, and her husband Antonio, all of Taunton; 3 grandsons, Joseph A. and Stephen M. Melo, both of Taunton and Nelson P. Melo of Texas; a great-grandson, Jarod A. Melo Texas and several nieces and nephews. She was also the grandmother of the late Elizabeth A. Melo and the sister of the late Joseph S., Manuel S., Angelina and Connie Pacheco.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway on Monday, Aug. 25th at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony Church at 11 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling Hours will be Sunday, from 5 to 8 p.m.
