Maria Silva, 97, of East Taunton, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Wednesday, January 3rd, 2018.
She was the widow of Manuel Sousa. Born in Ginetes, St. Michael, Azores, daughter of the late Manuel and Maria Isabel (Aguiar) Silva.
Maria enjoyed knitting and had a strong love of flowers. She resided in East Taunton, and was cared for by her granddaughter, Lucy Bento, great granddaughter, Chloe Bento, and Lucy’s husband, Frank Bento.
Survivors include her children, Maria Almeida and her husband Joao of Taunton and Maria Camara and her husband Joao of Kissimmee, Florida; 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was also mother of the late Pedro Martins and sister of the late Jose Silva.
Mrs. Silva's funeral will be held on Friday, January 12th, at 9:00am from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, with mass to follow in Annunciation of the Lord Church, 1st Street, at 10:00am. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 5-8pm.
