TAUNTON - Maria Alzira Silveira, 78, of Taunton died at St. Anne's Hospital in Fall River on Oct. 6, 2015, following a brief illness.
Born in Faial, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Manuel F. and Teresa A. (Pereira) Silveira.
Educated in Faial, she moved to the Taunton area in 1960.
She was employed by the John Lucy Shoe Co. for many years, retiring at the age of 65.
Maria was a devoted communicant of St. Anthony Church.
Survivors include her brother, Luis Silveira and his wife Maria of Taunton; her sister, Teresinha Silveira of Taunton; a niece, Diane Silveira of Raynham; four nephews, Steven Silveira of Florida, Mark and Dennis Silveira, both of Taunton and Philip Silveira of Chicago; and several great nieces and nephews.
She was also the sister of the late Jose and Manuel Silveira.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Tuesday, Oct. 13th at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony's Church in Taunton at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday, Oct. 12th from 5 to 8 p.m.
