Maria Dosanjos (Patricio) Rodrigues

Maria dos Anjos (Patricio) Rodrigues, age 78 of Taunton, passed away at her residence on November 23, 2021 with her loving family by her side.

She was the beloved wife of 39 years of the late Jacinto Rodrigues.

Maria was born in Sao Miguel, Azores, the daughter of the late Manuel and Maria dos Anjos Patricio.  She immigrated to the United States at the age of 17 and worked at several factories including Corcoran Shoe before devoting herself to raising her children.

Maria was quiet, gentle, and a remarkably strong woman.  She was a communicant of Saint Anthony’s Church with an unwavering faith.  She enjoyed gardening, knitting, shopping, traveling with her children and grandchildren, and setting up her elaborate Christmas nativity display.  Her famous sweet bread was baked with love and enjoyed by many.  Most of all Maria cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren who she helped care for.

Maria is survived by her loving children; Natalie Costa and husband Steven, Jesse Rodrigues and wife Elise, and Sandra Serpa and husband Denio, all of Taunton. She was the grandmother of Trevor Costa, Madelyn and Jesse Rodrigues, and Gabriel and Angelina Serpa. She was also the sister of the late Maria Almeida and aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Maria’s funeral with visitation will be held on Monday, November 29, 2021 at 9am in the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at saint Mary’s Square) Taunton with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in Saint Anthony’s Church School Street, Taunton. Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.
