Marie “Scotty” Scott, age 77 of Taunton, passed away at her residence on August 8, 2021 with her family and friends by her side.
She was the partner of over 38 years to the late Christine Barboza.
Marie was born in Dorchester, MA, the beloved daughter of the late Glenn and Mildred (Hout) Scott.
Before retiring, Miss Scott was employed with Verizon as a clerk for over 28 years and worked prior with Century Insurance Co. for over 13 years.
She was a 1962 graduate of Jeremiah E. Burke High School in Boston. In the 1960’s Marie played semi-pro softball with Waltham Drifters & Esquirettes and Massachusetts AAA Softball League, Boston CYO. As a child she was also a member of the Pioneers (telephone Company team ).
Marie is survived by her step-daughter Ann Marie Nelson, grandmother of Miranda and Myles Nelson. She was also the cousin of Jackie Hamilton, Ellen Bruso, Linda Bruso, Norman Bruso and Alan Bruso. She also survives her good friend Ruth Anne Emond and was the sister of the late Robert Hansen.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, August 13, 2021 from 11am to 12 Noon in the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton. Interment with grave-side prayers will follow in saint Joseph Cemetery.
