Mário C. Vicente, age 71 of Taunton, passed away on November 22, 2018 at his residence with his loving family by his side.
He was the beloved husband of Herminia (Boas) Vicente.
Born in Elvas Portugal, Mário was the son of the late Jose and Leonilde (Conceicaõ) Vicente.
Mário lived a long life with great family and friends. He proudly served in the Portuguese military for 2 years. In April 1981 he brought his family over from Portugal to live the American dream.
Before retiring, Mr. Vicente was a lifelong auto mechanic having worked with Somerville Motors, Wilmington Ford and most recently with Capelo Garage. He was a member of the Taunton Eagles, a former member of the Taunton Sports; he loved traveling to both Portugal and Belgium and was a car enthusiast.
Besides his beloved wife Herminia of over 50 years, he is survived by his loving children; Mário A. Vicente of Taunton and Claudia Rogissart of Plymouth. He was the grandfather of Georgina, Emma and Douglas and the brother of Adelaide Guelha of Portugal and Maria da Conceicaõ of Belgium.
Mr. Vicente’s funeral will be held on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at 8:30am from the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Saint Anthony Church School Street, Taunton. Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held in the Silva Funeral Home on Monday, November 26th from 4 to 7 pm.
(Additional parking with handicap access is located on the north side of the funeral home.)
