Mary F. (Duffy) Braga

Mary F. Braga (Duffy) 72, of Taunton, passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Boston Medical Center.

Born in Providence, RI, she was a daughter of the late James H. Duffy, Sr. and Anna Rita (Cullingworth) Duffy.

Mary worked as a teacher’s aide for the Taunton Public School System for many years. Ms. Braga was also a longtime employee of Henry’s Root Beer Stand, working beside three generations of the Wojtkunski family.

She was a communicant of Saint Jude the Apostle Church, in Taunton, where she served as a CCD teacher and was a member of the Women’s Guild at both St. Jude and the former Immaculate Conception Church. Ms. Braga enjoyed gardening, ceramics, and decorating. She actively participated in the Boy Scouts of America, with Local Pack 44 and Troop 44, and with the Narragansett Council’s Camp Norse in Kingston, MA

Mary leaves her two sons, Keith Braga, of Brooklyn, NY, and Christopher P. Braga, and his wife, Carolanne, of Taunton; her fur baby, Duffy; three siblings, Patricia Donovan, Keavin Duffy, and his wife Frances, and Brian Duffy; four loving grandchildren, Courtney, Drew, Matthew, and Sydni; several nieces and nephews; and three god children. She was the sister of the late James H. Duffy, III and Matthew Duffy: aunt of the late Keegan J. Duffy and Sgt. Shane P. Duffy; and was the former wife of the late Gregory Braga.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday , January 25, 2019 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, in the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton (at Saint Mary’s Square)

Additional parking with handicap access is located on the North side of the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday , January 26, 2019 at 10:00 am, in Saint Jude the Apostle Church, 249 Whittenton Street, Taunton.

Interment will be privately held.

Duffy Memorial Fund , 43 Trimount Avenue, Taunton, MA 02780 or the Friends of the Taunton Animal Care Facility, 821 West Water Street, Taunton, MA 02780 in her memory would be deeply appreciated.
