Mary P. (Deane) Carvalho

Mary P. Carvalho, 92, of Taunton, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Thursday, December 7th, 2017.

She was the widow of James Carvalho. Born in Taunton and a lifelong resident, Mary was a daughter of the late Howard L. and Louise M. (Kiyok) Deane.

Mary worked at the Chocolate Factory in Mansfield and was an Avon Representative. She ran a shoe club from St Pierre Shoe Store, for many years. Also, every September the family picked grapes from the grape vine, and Mary could be found making grape jelly for weeks, and everybody she knew got some. She loved playing Duckpin and took part in the Women’s League at the Roseland Ballroom.

Survivors include her children, James Carvalho and his wife, Janet of Marshfield, John Carvalho and his wife, Lynn of Rehoboth and Jeffery Carvalho of Taunton; her sister, Evelyn Glavin and her husband, Bucky of Raynham; grandchildren, Jayson, Ashleigh, Nicholas, Matthew, Allison, James, Kristen and Janet; great grandchildren, Chase, Audrey, Michael, Beckham, Marissa, Olivia, James and Jackson; and several nieces and nephews. She was also sister of the late William Deane, Richard Deane, Mildred Deane, Frances Hooper and Victoria Morse.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, on Thursday, December 14th, from 4:00 - 7:00pm, where her prayer service will take place at 7:00pm. Full handicap access and additional parking is located on the north side of the building. Private cremation to follow.
