EAST TAUNTON - Mary (Ventura) Cornell, wife of the late Everett P. "Nabor" Cornell, and the late James Cordeiro, died at Morton Hospital & Medical Center on March 16, 2010.
She was 87.
Born in Taunton, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary (Furtado) Ventura.
Raised and educated in Taunton, and a lifelong resident, Mrs. Cornell was employed by the Marian Manor for 26 years until retiring several years ago.
A communicant of Holy Family Church, her hobbies included knitting, crocheting, and taking care of her home.
Survivors include a son, Antone Cordeiro and his wife Deborah Tokarz-Cordeiro of Taunton; her stepchildren, Pam Buchek and her husband Philip, Everett Cornell, Jr., Brian Cornell and his wife Stephanie, Bruce Cornell, Catherine Nadeau and her husband Gilbert; three sisters, Natalie Reynolds of Lakeville, Eva Suspiro and her husband Ronald of Somerset, and Margaret Britton and her husband Frank of WV.
"Tia Mamie" was the aunt of Jeannine Torres and her husband Kenneth, and great nieces, Jaclyn and Julie Torres, all of Dighton.
She is also survived by several step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins, and was the sister of the late John, Kenneth, and William Ventura.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Friday, March 19th at 11 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at Holy Family Church, East Taunton at 12 Noon.
Burial will be at Mayflower Hill Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, March 18th from 5 to 8 p.m.
