Mary E. {Woodruff} Daniel, 93 of Taunton, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Rehoboth surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of 60 years to George W. Daniel. Mary was born in Providence R.I. the daughter of the late Leslie & Isabella {Catalan} Woodruff. She was a graduate of Pawtucket West High School in Pawtucket R.I. Before retiring she worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island for over 20 years as a data entry clerk and then as a supervisor. Mary enjoyed being outdoors reading a book on her front porch. She, along with her dear friend and longtime neighbor Rose Souza were both avid readers. They would exchange bags of books all the time. Always putting their initials M.D. & R.S. in the covers so they would know who read what. She also loved working in her garden and taking long walks with her dear friend Janet Malone. She loved taking rides down to her beloved Point Judith where she grew up. Spending time at the family cottage with her parents, siblings, husband and her boys there, were some of her fondest memories. The smell of the salt air always put a smile on her face. She also enjoyed her grandchildren & great grandchildren immensely. She saw them every day and they never failed to put a smile on her face and give her the giggles. Mary is survived by her loving children; Sharon Souza and her husband Jesse of Rehoboth, and her son Stephen Daniel of Taunton. She was the grandmother of Joshua, Kaitlynn, Michael & Dennis. She was the luckiest great grandmother to her little crazies Blaze & Gage, they always kept her smiling. Mary was the mother of the late David Daniel and the great grandmother to her littlest angel Willow Storm. She was preceded in death by her big brothers John & William {Bill} Woodruff. Mary is also survived by her daughter~in~law Merilee Daniel of Palm Coast Florida. Mary’s funeral with visitation will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 9am from Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway {at St. Mary’s Square}Taunton, with a mass at 11am in Holy Cross Catholic Church {former Hornbine Church} 141 Hornbine Road Rehoboth. Her burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts made to any organization to support Alzheimers and Dementia in Mary’s memory, would be deeply appreciated.
