Mary M. Demedeiros

TAUNTON- Mary M. (Casquilho) DeMedeiros, age 77, of Taunton, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at Boston Medical Center in Boston. She was the devoted wife to the late Antonio P. DeMedeiros, who passed away September 10, 2005.

Born in Ponta Delgada, Sao Miguel, Azores, she was the eldest of two and the only daughter born to the late Joao and Belmira Casquilho. She was raised and grew up in the Azores.

A hardworking woman, Mary worked for many years at Texas Instruments in Attleboro. She was employed as an Inspector, ensuring that the production of fountain pens and other writing instruments were of high quality.

A woman of deep faith, Mary was a longtime parishioner of St. Anthony Church in Taunton.

In her spare time Mary enjoyed gardening, spending time with her family and friends as well as babysitting children. She would be her happiest around children and she loved watching them grow up. She also loved to spend most of her time with beloved dog, Princess.

Mary is survived by her proud and cherished sons: John M. DeMedeiros and Steven M. Demedeiros, both of Taunton; her grandchildren: Austin D. Murphy of Middleboro and Kristina M. Gamache and her husband Casey of New Bedford; her great-granddaughter: Hazel Gamache; her brother: Joao F. Rodrigues and his wife Natie of Taunton; her brother-in-law: Jose Placido and his wife Connie of Ontario, Canada; and also numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Mary’s Mass of Christian Burial for the repose of her soul, will be held on Tuesday , June 11, 2024, at 9am in St. Anthony Church, 126 School St., Taunton. There will be no procession from the funeral home. Relatives and friends are asked to meet directly at St. Anthony Church and park in the lot behind the church.  Interment will be held in St. Joseph Cemetery, E Britannia St., Taunton.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday , June 10, 2024, from 5pm to 7pm in the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square), Taunton. Additional parking is located on the North side of the funeral home.
