Mary Jo (Duarte) Diogo, age 81, of Taunton, MA, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2026, at Southeast Rehabilitation & Skilled Care Center in North Easton, MA.
She was the beloved wife of the late Mario Diogo who passed in 2010.
Born in Povoacao, Sao Miguel, Azores, and the daughter of the late Carlos and Filomena (Franco) Duarte.
Mary Jo enjoyed cooking abundant amounts of Portuguese food for her entire family, gardening, volunteering at St. Anthony’s church and singing in the choir. As a stay-at-home mom, she loved raising her children and grandchildren and enjoyed her summers at the family home on Cape Cod.
She was a home health aide for a beloved elderly woman in Taunton, MA.
Mary Jo is survived by her loving children, Daniel Diogo and his wife Janice Taylor of Raynham, MA and Lisa Lima and her late husband John Lima of Lakeville, MA, grandmother of Austin Diogo, Dimitri Diogo, Joshua Lima, and Elisa Lima. She was also the sister of Irene Duarte Franco of Taunton, MA, Agostinho Almeida (deceased) of Taunton, MA, Arsenio Duarte of Taunton, MA, and Maria Agnes Duarte-Byrnes of Sagamore Beach, MA.
Mary Jo’s funeral will be held on Monday, March 9th, at 8:30 a.m. from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square), Taunton, MA with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Saint Ann’s Church, 675 North Main Street, Raynham, MA.
Interment will follow at Saint Joseph Cemetery, East Britannia Street, Taunton, MA.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, March 8th from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Silva Funeral Home. Additional parking with handicap access is located on the North side of the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary Jo's memory made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital would be greatly appreciated.
