Mary Jo Botelho

Mary Jo (Moitoso) Botelho, age 72 of Taunton, passed away on June 21, 2026, at Morton Hospital.

She was the beloved wife of John L. Botelho, with whom she shared 52 years of marriage.

Born in Faial, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Jose and Maria (Felipe) Moitoso.

Mary Jo devoted her life to her family and found her greatest joy in caring for those she loved. She enjoyed crocheting, baking, and treasured the time she spent with her family. Her warmth, generosity, and loving nature touched the lives of many. She will be remembered for the love she shared, the memories she created, and the lifelong devotion she had to her family.

In addition to her loving husband John, she is survived by her sons; David Botelho and wife Suzanna, Eric Botelho, grandchildren; Melanie Botelho, Selena DeFaria, Aliyah DeFaria, sisters; Valentina Moitoso, Mary F. Duarte and husband Arsenio along with many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026 from 12 to 3pm with a service to begin at 3pm in the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton.

Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life gathering from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Ward Five Club, 29 Winter Street, Taunton, MA. (Downstairs)

Additional parking with handicap access is located on the North side of the building.
