BERKLEY/TAUNTON - Mary R. (Roderick) Sylvia, 97, died at Longmeadow of Taunton on Feb. 8, 2011.
She was the wife of the late Charles Sylvia, to whom she was married for seventy years.
Born in Somerset, daughter of the late John and Norina (Borges) Roderick, she resided in the Taunton area since 1949.
A homemaker for most of her adult life, she enjoyed cooking, and was especially fond of preparing Sunday dinners for her family.
Mrs. Sylvia was a beach camping enthusiast, a life member of the MA Beach Buggy Association and a communicant of St. Andrew the Apostle Church.
Above all else, she cherished her family and the time she spent with them.
She leaves her daughter, Patricia M. Macomber and her husband Russell of Berkley; her daughter-in-law, Carol Sylvia-Edmands of Burke, NY, seven grandchildren, Russell Macomber of Lakeville, Jeffrey Macomber, Charles Sylvia, and Rena Raggiani, all of Berkley, Scott Macomber of Silver Springs, MD, Robert Sylvia of Taunton, and Lisa Martin of Burke, NY; thirteen great grandchildren, Coleman, Cara, Nicholas, Joshua, Noah, Nora, Nolin, Jason, Justin, Chelsea, Maiya, Nylan and Maylee. She was also the mother of the late Robert C. Sylvia, and the sister of the late John and Manuel Roderick, and the late Delia Fierra.
Her funeral will be private at the convenience of the family.
