Matthew Mello, age 37, passed away on Thursday March 11, 2021 at his home in Holyoke. He was born July 22, 1983 in Taunton, the son of the late Ronald Mello and Susan Ann Carreiro.
As young boys, Matt & Jeff loved summer time because that meant Boys & Girls Club Summer Camp. This is where Matt came into his own. Those experiences helped him excel as a student at Parker Middle School where he ultimately served as class President. Matthew was a confident and fun loving middle-schooler who enjoyed playing sports, listening to music, and spending time with friends.
As a teen, he attended Taunton High School where he joined his brother in both chorus and drama club. Matthew loved music, so much so that he taught himself to play guitar and drums.
Later on in life, Matthew’s favorite pastimes were to watch and support his favorite New England sports teams and attend concerts of his favorite band, 311.
Matthew leaves a daughter Skylar Sousa, a brother Jeffrey Mello and maternal grandmother Dorothy Carreiro. He also leaves behind his Godfather Bob, Cousin Lisa and Aunt Donna.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, March 21, 2021 from 1 to 4pm in the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square.) Taunton. His burial will be held privately.
During the visitation facial coverings and social distancing will be required.
Additional parking with handicap access is located on the north side of the funeral home.
