Michael S. Phillinger, age 59 of Taunton, passed away on August 23, 2026 at Accent Care in Milton.
He was the long-time companion of Lisa A. Coelho.
Born in Taunton, he was the son of Irene (Stanley) Phillinger and the late Robert Phillinger.
Mike or “Philly” as many knew him was a graduate of Taunton High. He spent his earlier days working at Lombardi’s as a dj, bouncer and bartender, which is where he met his life partner. He also coached softball for many years, traveling on weekends with a competitive team to different cities and states, and would sometimes bring a grill to cook for everyone.
Mike was a hardworking and dedicated Supervisor at Americold Logistics for the past 25 years, where he managed a cold storage facility in Middleboro with pride. He loved hosting family gatherings and cookouts, always bringing out the poker chips for a friendly game. He was an avid poker player, loved going to Foxwoods and was a true Boston Red Sox fan. He also loved watching football. He especially loved participating in a fantasy football league with his friends, niece and nephews. Sarah could always count on getting some great trades from Uncle Mike. But, he holds the trophy.
Mike was a prankster who loved making people laugh. He was strong and fearless, always looking out for others, and beneath his tough exterior, he was deeply caring and supportive. Above all, he had an unwavering love for his son, Matt, and was incredibly proud to be his father.
Besides his best friend and loving companion Lisa of 28 years, he is survived by his mother Irene (Stanley) Phillinger, his son Matthew Phillinger, siblings; Debbie Phillinger, Robert Phillinger and wife Judy, Pamela Phillinger, Wendi Batchelder, John Phillinger and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews that he absolutely adored. He was the brother- in-law of the late Phyllis Phillinger and Tony Santos.
