Michael D. Souza

TAUNTON - Michael D. Souza, much loved husband of Nancy (Souza) (Butler) Souza, went home to be with the Lord on Marathon Monday, April 18, 2011.
He was 59.
He was born in Arlington, Virginia and was raised in Rehoboth, graduating from Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School, class of 1969.
He also attended Rhode Island College and Bristol Community College.
He was employed as a warehouse supervisor at Fineline Fuel Systems until April, 2010.
He attended Christian Fellowship Center Assembly of God in New Bedford.
Michael enjoyed running, having run the Boston Marathon many times, mountain biking, hiking, tennis, reading, traveling, and Bluegrass concerts.
He taught himself to play the guitar, and he loved to worship.
He enjoyed riding his motorcycle with his wife and spending time outdoors doing anything from working in the garden to throwing a Frisbee.
He had many other interests and was known for his quiet but very fun ways, quick wit, adventuresome spirit, and creative ideas.
Besides his wife of Taunton, he is survived by his daughter, Bonnie (Butler) and her husband John Ebanks of New York; his son, Guy and his wife Melissa (Pemberton) Butler of Taunton, and his four grandchildren.
He is also survived by his parents, James and Irma Souza of Rehoboth, and his four sisters, Debra Sullivan and Janet Lingard of Seekonk, Roberta Souza of Rehoboth, and Norma Mink of Seekonk, several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral Services will be held at the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Friday, April 22nd at 8 a.m. Burial will be at Mayflower Hill Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, April 21st from 4 to 7 p.m.
