Michael Alan Thomas

Michael A. Thomas , 58, of Taunton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Judith A. (Taylor-Podgurski) Thomas. They were married for the past 10 years.

Born in Middleboro, he was the son of Virginia A. (Hammond) Thomas and the late Russell L. Thomas.

He served as the pastor of the Refuge Church in Taunton for the past 10 years and previously served as an associate pastor at Agape Chapel in Raynham for several years.

Michael loved preaching the word of God, coaching, refereeing, umpiring baseball, working with children’s outreach in Taunton, and missionary work in Haiti.

Besides his wife Judith, he was the loving father of Michael J. Thomas, and his wife, Jacqulin, of New Bedford, Joshua E. Thomas, of Middleboro, Kyle J. DeCoste, and his wife, Alexis, of Hyannis, Kade Mason Gallagher, of North Attleboro, of Emma Lynn, Kassandra J. Thomas, of Taunton, and Louis Colon, of Boston; and two brothers, Jeffrey Thomas, of Lakeville, and Timothy Thomas, and his wife, Beth, of Carver.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday , May 15, 2021 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm, with a funeral service beginning at 1:30pm, in the Chapel of the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton (at Saint Mary’s Square)

Interment will be privately held.

Additional parking with handicap access is located on the North side of the funeral home.

Facial coverings and social distancing will be required during all services.
