NORTH DIGHTON- Norman J. “Norm” Mendoza, Sr., age 85, of North Dighton, MA, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at Morton Hospital in Taunton. He was the devoted husband to the late Olive E. (Pontes) Mendoza.
Born in Fall River, Norm was the only child born to the late Lawrence J. and Lucy (Fisher) Mendoza. He grew up in Dighton and graduated from Coyle High School.
A proud and patriotic man, at a young age, Norm enlisted in the United States Marine Corp, serving from 1957 to 1959.
Norm worked for many years as a Truck Driver for KR Rezendes, Assonet, MA. A proud member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 251.
In his spare time, Norm enjoyed tinkering with projects around his home and barn. In their younger years, he and Olive liked to explore car shows, go camping, and travel.
Norm is survived by his two sons: Norman J. Mendoza, Jr., and his wife Melissa of Hudson, NH and Jeffrey Mendoza and his wife Donnalee Mendoza of Pascoag, RI; his granddaughter: Mackenzie Mendoza of Hudson, NH; and also many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in passing by his daughter: Lisa Mendoza
Norman's funeral will be held on Thursday , June 13, 2024 at 10:30am followed by a Funeral Service at 11am in the Chapel of the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary's Square) Taunton.
Interment with USMC Honors will be in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Taunton.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday , June 12, 2024 from 5 to 7pm in the Silva Funeral Home.
Additional parking with handicap access is located on the North Side of the funeral home.
