Patricia Ann (Fratus) Nickerson “Rugg,” 86, of Taunton, passed away peacefully at home on March 24, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Patricia was the beloved wife of the late Donald Nickerson and, previously, the late Wallace Rugg. Born and raised in Taunton, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Jeannette (Wilson) Fratus.
Before retiring, Patricia worked as a home health aide and was employed at Paul Dever State School. She also gave her time as a volunteer “Grandmother” in Head Start classrooms. Above all, Patricia was a devoted mother and grandmother who cherished her family deeply.
She found great joy in spending time with loved ones and never missed a beat when it came to enjoying life. Patricia loved listening to and dancing to her favorite music—especially Elvis. She enjoyed gardening, playing cards with friends, attending exercise classes, and playing bingo at the senior center. She also loved dining out, shopping, taking walks, going to the casino, camping, and sightseeing.
Patricia is survived by her loving children: Robyn G. Davis, Randall J. Rugg, Gregory Rugg and daughter in law, Lisa Rugg, Lawrence G. Rugg, and Ann Marie Pennington, all of Taunton. She was a proud grandmother to Melissa Lafreniere, Carrie Davis, Christine Davis, Chelsea Davis, Jenny Rugg, Matthew Rugg, Brian Rugg, and Briana McCone, and a cherished great- grandmother to Anthony, Eva Marie, Michael, Lotus, Selina, Sequoia, Paul, and Cameron. She was also the mother of the late Scott E. Rugg and Kevin M. Rugg, and the sister of the late Richard and James Fratus. Patricia will be remembered for her warmth, her love of family, and the joy she brought to those around her.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2026 at 11am with a funeral service to begin at 12:30pm in the chapel of the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton. Additional parking with handicap access is located on the North side of the funeral home.
Her burial will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, monetary donations made to; “Taunton’s Council of Aging” or individually wrapped snack items such as cookies and crackers dropped off for Bingo at 30 Olney Street, Taunton, MA, in Patricia’s memory, would be deeply appreciated.
