TAUNTON- Peter J. Gove, age 64, lifelong resident of Taunton, passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2024, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. He was a loving father to Jess and Sara and a devoted husband to June M. (Leanues) Gove, whom he wed on June 28, 1986.
One of five children, Peter was the only son born to Peter B. Gove and the late Coralee A. (Mazza) Gove. He grew up on Highland Street in Taunton and graduated from Taunton High School with the Class of 1977.
A jack-of-all-trades, Peter held various positions of employment throughout his life. Peter’s fondest memories were during his employment at Taunton’s famous Benjamin’s Restaurant. He worked in various roles including Server, Bartender, and Event Facilitator, where he provided the utmost level of service.
In his spare time, Peter had many hobbies and interests. He was an avid outdoorsman, fisherman, and had a true love for animals. He also enjoyed four-wheeling in his Jeep Renegade Deserthawk. His happiest days were spent at his family’s camp in Deering, New Hampshire. Peter loved to watch WWE with his girls, take long drives with his wife and, above all, Peter treasured any time spent with his family.
In addition to his wife, Peter is survived by his cherished and proud daughters: Jess Gove and her husband Todd and Sara Gove; his siblings: Deborah Theroux and her late husband David, Lauralee Gove and her husband Eric Standke, Melissa Gove, and the late Cynthia Whalon; his mother-in-law: Judith Leanues and her late husband Raymond; his sister-in-laws: Doreen Swartz and her husband Edward and Melissa DiNunzio and her husband Michael; his treasured grand-bunnies: Roxie and Harry; he also had numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Memorial Visiting Hours will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024 , from 5 pm to 6:30 pm followed by a Funeral Service at 6:30pm in the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) in Taunton. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that in Peter’s honor you take a moment to be kind to others, feed a squirrel, look up at the stars, and hold your loved ones close.
