Philip E. Bettencourt, age 70 of Taunton, passed away on February 7, 2022 at home surrounded by his wife and son Jay.
He was the husband of Linda (Cooper) Bettencourt.
Born in Taunton, he was the son of the late Manuel and Lillian (Duarte) Bettencourt.
He battled a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Phil graduated from Monsignor James Coyle High School and Roger Williams College. He taught in the Taunton School System for 35 years and coached both baseball and basketball. A life member of PACC where he served on the scholarship committee. Also a member of the Italian Club and Sippican Rod and Gun Club. After retirement he worked for DCR as an Interpreter at Massasoit and New Bedford. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, gardener and huge fan of all New England sports teams.
Besides his beloved wife Linda of 34 years, he is survived by his children; Jay Bettencourt, John Bettencourt, Tyler Mascarello and husband Johnny, brother; Richard Bettencourt and wife Joanne. He was the brother of the late Diane James.
