Phyllis L. (Walker) Barros, age 101 of Taunton, passed away at her home with loving family surrounding her on August 26, 2026.

 She was the beloved wife of the late Clarence J. Barros. 

Born in Orleans, MA, Phyllis was the daughter of the late John and Mildred (Rogers) Walker. Phyllis was a direct descendent of Joseph Rogers who came to America on the Mayflower in 1620. Phyllis is survived by her loving children, Sandra J. Borges of Raynham, MA, Paul A. Barros and his companion Linda Cole of Taunton and Brian Barros and his companion MaryAnn Correia of Taunton, her loving granddaughter, Sarah (Borges) Brewer and her loving great grandson, Elliott Brewer of Arlington, MA, her one surviving sister, Constance “Connie”Rose of Bourne, MA, her late sister Millicent “Millie”Olsen of Dennis, MA, her late sister Dorice Trahan of Taunton, MA, her late brother Allen Walker who was lost at sea during WW11, her late brother Elston Walker of Caldwell, Idaho and her late brother Emery Walker of Taunton , MA. 

Before her retirement, Mrs. Barros worked as a salesperson at several clothing stores including Goodnows Clothing Store and The Family Shop both in Taunton. During WW11 she worked at the Taunton location of the Aerovox Corporation assembling electronics for the war effort. Phyllis was an accomplished ballroom dancer, bowler, seamstress and home pastry maker. She enjoyed gardening, reading and a good game of just about anything. Most of the time she won. 

She was an animal lover and a bird watcher. A long-standing Red Sox and Patriot’s fan, she faithfully watched the Red Sox until a week before her passing. To those who knew her well, she was admired for her discipline, sharp and observant mind and independent spirit. No matter what life dealt her she always devised a system to keep on going. 

Her funeral with visitation will begin at 9a.m. with a service to begin at 10a.m. on Tuesday, September 1, 2026 in the chapel of Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton, MA.

Interment will follow in Saint Joseph’s Cemetery. 

Memorial gifts may be made to Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the American Heart Association in Mrs. Barros’s memory.
