Rachel L. (Fairbanks) Silva, wife of the late John D. Silva and the late John P. Coelho, died on Sunday, Oct. 19 at the Life Care Center of Raynham. She was 91.
Born in Norton, she was the daughter of the late George and Evelyn (Bayham) Fairbanks. A Taunton resident for most of her life, she attended Taunton schools and later worked as a supervisor for the Eureka Manufacturing Company, before retiring many years ago.
After moving to East Wareham some time ago, she was instrumental in founding the Buzzards Bay Eagles Auxiliary and was a member of St. Margaret Church and the Emblem Club.
She leaves a daughter, Nancy and her husband Leon Machado of Wildwood, FL; a brother, Herbert Fairbanks, of ME; a sister, Norma Garney of Brockton; many grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was also the mother of the late John Coelho, Jr., Richard Coelho and Jean Coelho Staples.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Thursday, Oct. 23 at 8 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Mary's Church, Taunton at 9 a.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Taunton. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling Hours will be Wednesday, Oct. 22 from 5 to 8 p.m.
