Ralph “Buddy” G. Conant III passed away on Monday, August 17, 2020 at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, at the age of 62.
Born and raised in Taunton, Buddy was the beloved son of the late Ralph G. Conant Jr. and Ruth (Pacheco) Conant. Buddy is survived by his friend and former wife Therese Winnett-Callahan and their loving children, Jamie Conant, Christen Ferreira and her husband Christopher, and Randy Conant. He was the grandfather to Primo Dias, Emery and Rowan Ferreira, brother to Sherri Machado, and was uncle, cousin, nephew and friend to many. He had especially fond memories of time spent with his relatives in the LaMountain family. He often attended service at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Taunton.
Buddy was a lifelong lover of music, who enjoyed everything from classical to hard rock. He played various musical instruments, including guitar and trumpet, but especially loved to sing. He performed in several area bands and local stage productions, but nothing brought him more joy than attending concerts with his children and friends. He was an avid New England sports fan, always cheering on his Bruins and Patriots. He also loved drawing and painting, going to the beach, collecting hot wheels and vinyl records, browsing Newbury Comics for hours, drinking Dunkin Donuts coffee, and especially hanging out with friends and family. Buddy also had a great love of animals, especially dogs. His cherished Lady, Lucky and Skye were always by his side and loved him unconditionally.
As all of his close friends and family know, Buddy battled uncontrolled type 1 diabetes and several related complications for many years, but all should take comfort in knowing that Buddy is no longer feeling any pain and suffering, only peace.
Due to the pandemic, a remembrance for friends and family will be held at a future date TBD at Pinehill Cemetery, East Taunton. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston, MA.
