Ramon (Nocho) Rodriguez Sr. age 93 of Taunton, peacefully passed away on May 29, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his loving wife and family. Born in Manatí, Puerto Rico. Ramon was the son of the late Emilio and Georgina (Torres) Rodriguez. Ramon was the true meaning of a “Jibaro”, working in the fields of his homeland of Puerto Rico. He was employed with the National Binding Book Company in Chicago, IL and retired from The Chocolate Factory in Mansfield, MA. He enjoyed spending time in his garden growing sunflowers, fruits and vegetables. Ramon also enjoyed playing his numbers, pool, and winning a round of dominos. Ramon was known for being fashionably late, dressed to the nines in his fedora and button-down shirt, always making a grand entrance. He was kind, always joking around, and made the funniest faces. He truly had a smile that would light up any room. Besides his beloved wife Lydia of over 56 years, he is survived by his loving children; Ramon Rodriguez, Jr. of Taunton, Adilia Collazo and her husband Jamie Collazo of Taunton, Luz Ortiz of Fall River, and Iraida Rodriguez of Taunton. Grandfather of Jeannie Ortiz, Nicholas J. Collazo, Cristina A. Czajka, Julianna D. Collazo, Maryleisie Rivera, Brianna L. Fasulo, Bianca M. Rodriguez, Elijah R. Williams, Ramon Rodriguez III, and great-grandfather of Amarah L. Pina. Ramon is survived by his brothers Miguel Rodriguez, Providencio Rodriguez, and sister Ada Cortes all of Puerto Rico. Ramon was brother of the late Maria Maldonado, Alta Gracia Morales, Carmen Ramos, Andrea Robles, Roosevelt Rodriguez, and Daniel Rodriguez.
Ramon’s funeral will be held on Saturday June 3, 2023 at 9am with a funeral service beginning at 10am in the Chapel of the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway Street (Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton, MA. Interment will follow in the Mayflower Hill Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, June 2, 2023 from 4pm to 7pm in the Silva Funeral Home. Additional parking with handicap access is located on the North side of the funeral home.
