Richard J. “Dick” Almeda, age 90 of Raynham, passed away December 19, 2022, at Good Samaritan Hospital.
He was the husband of Barbara (Fitzgerald) Almeda.
Born in Taunton, he was the son of the late John and Dorothy (Hawkins) Almeda.
Richard graduated from Bristol County Agricultural High School and then enlisted to proudly serve in the US Navy during the Korean War. After the war, he went on to study at the New England Institute of Technology. Richard worked as an oil burner technician for various companies before starting his own heating and air conditioning company which is still in business today.
He was very active in the community as a member of the American Legion and Raynham Lions Club where he held a leadership position for many years.
Richard loved to travel with his wife and friends but most importantly he enjoyed spending time with family.
Besides his loving wife Barbara of 61 years, he is survived by his children; Cindy McGovern and husband Bob, David Almeda, Daniel Almeda and wife Jeanne, grandchildren; Jeff McGovern and wife Saige, Greg McGovern and wife Jenna, Andrew McGovern, Elise McGovern, Alannah Almeda, great-grandchildren; Finn, Jamie, Amelia and Virginia. He was the brother of the late Ruth Guillemette and was the uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, December 26, 2022, from 4 to 7pm in the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton (Saint Mary’s Square).
Additional parking with handicap access is located on the North side of the funeral home.
Mr. Almeda’s funeral home service will be held on Tuesday, December 27th at 10am from the Silva Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in Pleasant Street Cemetery, Raynham.
