Richard Daniel Bartel

Richard D. Bartel , 76, of Taunton, passed away on August 10, 2020 at his home after a long illness, surrounded by his family.

Born in Taunton, he was the son of the late Manuel and Julia (Alexander) Bartel.

He served his country proudly in the United States Navy during the Vietnam war. He was awarded a Purple Heart.

Richard worked as a job foreman for a painting contracting company for many years. He enjoyed playing golf, watching sports, living in the warm sun of Fort Myers and spending time with family

Mr. Bartel is survived by his children, Christopher Bartel, and his wife Christine, of Taunton, and Vicki Moitoza, and her husband, Paul, of Taunton; his former spouse, dear friend and caregiver, Dianne Bartel; a brother, Daniel Bartel, of Taunton; a sister, Dorothy McGinnis, of Washington, two grandchildren, Michael Moitoza, and his wife, Valerie and Jessica Rodrigues, and her husband, Michael; and five great grandchildren, Aidan, Michael Jr., Vera, Myra, and Jeffrey. He was the father of the late Dr. Jeffrey Bartel and was also the brother of the late Manuel and Joseph Bartel and Frances Keough.

His committal service and interment with military honors will be held privately  for the immediate family, in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Taunton. COVID safety procedures will be adhered to. Visiting hours will be respectfully omitted.
