Richard Mello, age 58, passed away on February 12, 2018 at Care One of New Bedford. Born in Oakland, CA, and raised in Taunton, he was the son of Edward J. Mello of Melbourne, FL and the late Mary (McKenna) Lima. Richard owned and operated Smaarrt Flooring in New Hampshire for many years and enjoyed time spent with his family, reading, collecting coins and playing cards. He loved to cook and will be remembered for having an extremely generous and giving heart. Besides his father, Richard is survived by his children, Tammy Mello and Richard W. Mello, Jr., both of Taunton; his step-mother, Susan E. Mello of Melbourne, FL; brothers, Michael Mello of Seekonk, David Mello of East Providence, RI and Edward Mello, Jr. of Taunton; granddaughters, Alivia and Haylee; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also father of the late Samantha Mello and brother of the late Dawn Lima, Jeffrey Lima and John Lima, Jr.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, February 21st from 5-8pm at the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway. His committal service will take place on Thursday, February 22nd at 12:15pm at Cedar Knoll Cemetery, 175 Staples St., East Taunton.
