Richard D. Mount

Richard D. Mount, 90, of Berkley, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Sunday, June 24th, 2018.

He was the beloved husband of Rosemary (Cambra) Mount, with whom he shared 66 years of marriage. Born in Fultonville, NY, he was a son of the late Donald and Mildred (Cook) Mount.

A WWII Veteran of the U.S. Navy, Seaman Second Class; and a Korean War Veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Airman First Class; Richard served with the Air Police and was an active longtime member of the American Legion, Post 0121 in Berkley. During his time with the Navy, Richard had the honor of being a “Plank Owner” as part of the original crew of the USS Midway, a vessel that is now a museum in San Diego, CA.

For many years, Richard was an ironworker, Local 37 in Providence, RI, having worked on various buildings and bridges. He greatly enjoyed gardening and cherished all of the time he spent with his family.

Besides his wife, Richard is survived by his daughters, Sandra Mount (Mattos) of Sagamore, Diana Rice and her husband Michael of Berkley and Pamela Mount of Taunton; siblings, Betty Craver, Marilyn Anderson, Robert Mount and Arthur Mount, all of New York; grandchildren, Alison Whitney and her husband Scott of Missouri, and Kaitlyn Rice and her fiance Chris Lamphier of Texas; great grandchildren, Isaac Whitney and Abigail Lamphier; and several nieces and nephews. He was also brother of the late Eva Mount and Irving Mount.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, June 28th from 9:00 to 10:00am in the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, before processing to Annunciation of The Lord Church at 11:00am. Interment with Military Honors will be held at 1:45 at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
