Robert J. Cwiek

d. June 3, 2025

Robert “Bobby” Cwiek passed away peacefully on June 3, 2025 with his family by his side after a short illness.  He was born March 12, 1946 to Wladyslaw (Walter) and Genowefa (Jennie) Cwiek(Kuszaj) in Fall River.

Bobby was a lifelong resident of Whittenton where he attended Leonard School and worked as a pizza cook at the former Gondola restaurant. It was at the Gondola where he would meet his wife, Mary.  He graduated from Taunton Vocational High School in 1964.  He enlisted in United States Army having proudly served in Korea where he worked in the motor pool and developed skills that would cause family and friends to turn to him whenever something needed fixing.  He was always working at fixing someone’s lawn tractor or snowblower or oil furnace.  He worked at Abreau Oil for 40 years as an oil burner technician before retiring.

In his spare time he enjoyed gardening, tinkering with small engines, and watching television.  His favorite shows included nature shows and educational shows (like How it’s Made or This Old House).  Bobby also loved food.  Not a foodie in the modern sense, he loved to eat.  His family will loving remember him asking “Where are the hot dogs?” at his granddaughters’ dance recitals or forever saying he was on a diet.  He could be found almost every Wednesday morning at breakfast with his brother-in-law Hank and sister-in-law Shirley at the Milk Bottle where despite his love for food it was always about the company.  He also enjoyed his trips to Belgium where he would visit family, have a beer and take in the “sights”.

In addition to his wife, Mary (Tigano) with whom he would have celebrated 56 years of marriage on August 9th, he leaves a daughter Kelley Ploude and her husband Richard, and 3 granddaughters: Olivia, Sarah and Rose, all of East Taunton. He leaves a twin sister Barbara Bourret of Taunton and numerous nieces and nephews.  He is predeceased by his parents as well as his brother Walter and his grandson Brett.

Mr. Cwiek’s funeral will be held on Wednesday, June11, 2025 at 8:30 am from the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Saint Jude the Apostle Church.
