It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the peaceful passing of Roberto Oliveira, aged 92, on July 7, 2026. Born on July 14, 1934, in vibrant São Paulo, Brazil, and raised in Povoacao, Sao Miguel, Azores. He was the beloved son of the late Augustino Raposo Oliveira and Irene Amaral Oliveira.
Roberto's life was a rich tapestry woven with threads of family, faith, and friendship. He was predeceased by his dear brothers, Nelson and Antonio Oliveira. He leaves behind his cherished wife, Natalie Melo Oliveira, to whom he was devoted for 64 wonderful years since their marriage on February 18, 1962, in Povocao, Sao Miguel, Azores.
Together, Roberto and Natalie created a loving family, raising two children who were his pride and joy. His daughter, Dorothy Oliveira-Soares, along with her husband, Miguel M. Soares, and his son, Robert M. Oliveira, with his wife, Karen Oliveira. Roberto's legacy continues with his grandchildren, Paulo Soares, Celia Soares, Mariana Oliveira, and Gabriel & Johannes Groothoff who will forever hold dear the memories of their grandfather's laughter and wisdom. His sisters, Marita Goncalves, Benilde Oliveira-Ferreira and husband Juliao Ferreira and numerous brothers-in- law and sisters-in-law ,nephews and nieces also mourn his passing. He was also the brother-in-law of the late Antonio Aguas Goncalves.
Roberto was a cornerstone in the community, having dedicated many years to the construction and landscaping industries before his retirement in 2020. His commitment to service was evident through his involvement with The Holy Ghost committee of the former Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Taunton, MA, and his active membership in Clubo Ateneu Luso-Americano of Fall River, MA.
Known for his infectious humor and storytelling, Roberto was a man who could light up any room. He loved playing cards with friends and family, sharing his passion for Country and Mexican Mariachi music loudly enough for his neighbors to enjoy, and vacationing in the warmth of Florida's winters. A lifelong soccer fan, he often recounted tales of the legendary games from his youth in Brazil, especially those involving his idol, Pelé.
Roberto's life was a testament to the power of laughter and a legacy of joy, having touched countless lives with his kindness and humor.
As we bid farewell to Roberto, we celebrate a life well-lived and a man deeply loved. His stories will echo in our hearts, his laughter will inspire our days, and his memory will be cherished forever.
